The "Y" lock (British patent: dated 1860 No.3071) was Chubbs answer to a powder proof lock. This example is largley as illustrated and described in the patent specification, but with one extra feature, an extention to one of the levers which must also line up with a cut-out in the bolt.

c. 18??. 6 lever. Illustrated as found, with cap, curtain and hardplate removed. (awaiting restoration)
