German Mastership Rim Deadlock
The inscription reads: FROM STEEL, IRON AND BRASS I WAS TAKEN. FIRE, HAMMER, ANVIL HAVE MASTERED ME. THROUGH FILING AND POLISHING FORCED INTO REFINEMENT. THEREFORE I SUCCEEDED WITH GOD. WITHOUT HIS POWER NOTHING CAN BE DONE. JOHANN MARTINGERSTL (probably the locksmith) HAS MADE ME. SCHWOBACH (Now spelt Schwabach, a town near Nuremberg, Germany) 1 NOVEMBER ANNO 1748
